Bone Marrow Transplant

Hospital Nove de Julho has an adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program (BMT), with specific authorizations, in accordance with Ordinance 2600 of October 21, 2009 of the Ministry of Health, which establishes specific rules for the functioning of the Service's managing bodies, of the Transplant National [Serviço Nacional de Transplante] (SNT), of the establishments, and of the specialized teams.  

Mission 

Promote excellent care in Onco-Hematology, Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation / Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with care centered on the patient and family through an interdisciplinary team. 

Objectives  

The bone marrow transplant program aims to:   
  • Offer safe and high-quality specialized care to patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in a hospital and outpatient setting, with welcoming as a differential;   

  • Offer services for diagnosis and treatment to patients with onco-hematological and hematological diseases; 

  • Standardize the flow of care for these patients;   

  • Continuously monitor the assistance provided to ensure clinical excellence at all times;   

  • Monitor the aspects of care that influence patient and family satisfaction.   

Nove de Julho is a Treatment Center authorized to perform transplants in patients over 18 years of age in autologous and allogeneic modalities: 

  • Autologous transplants;  

  • Allogeneic transplants using compatible donors;   

  • Allogeneic transplants using unrelated donors;   

  • Allogeneic transplants using haploidentical donors.  

The following diseases are treated in the Program: ​ 

Leukemia 

  • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia  

  • Myelogenous Leukemia  

  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia  

  • Chronic Myeloid Leukemia 

 

Lymphoma 

  • Hodking Lymphoma  

  • Non-Hodking Lymphoma 

 

Others 

  • Multiple Myeloma  

  • Myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative syndromes (including myelofibrosis) ​ 

  • Aplastic anemia  

  • Sickle cell disease

  • ​Other Bone Marrow Failure Diseases  

 JCI Certification 

Nove de Julho is the only hospital in the world to currently have its Clinical Care Program in the area of Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) certified by the Joint Commission International (JCI). Certification by the JCI is important because it shows that your program has a multidisciplinary team, whose interaction results in safety, care and excellence in patient treatment.
