Hospital Nove de Julho has been accredited since 2009 to perform organ and tissue transplantation, according to the Ordinance 2600 of the Ministry of Health. The authorization granted to the H9J follows the specific rules for the authorization of the management bodies, the Sistema Nacional de Transplantes [National Transplant System] (SNT), establishments, and specialized teams. Currently, the institution performs bone marrow transplants (autologous, related allogeneic and unrelated allogeneic), liver, kidney, musculoskeletal, cornea, and others (heart, lung and pancreas).
Liver and kidneys: highly complex surgeries
Hospital Nove de Julho is qualified to perform liver transplants, both from deceased and living donors. It currently has the Adult Living Liver Transplant Program and the Cirrhosis and Liver Transplant Nucleus, both composed of highly specialized multidisciplinary teams to perform this extremely complex surgery.

Another complex surgery performed at the hospital is kidney transplantation. In Brazil, transplants are coordinated by the Unified Health System (SUS), under the responsibility of the National Transplant System (SNT), which controls and monitors transplants of organs, tissues and parts of the human body.
When a patient is referred for a solid organ transplant, he or she is placed on a single, periodically updated list so that donated organs are allocated to recipients as needed and matched.
Active search for potential donors
The hospital also has the Comissão Intra-hospitalar de Transplantes [Intra-Hospital Transplant Commission] (CIHT), which works in the active search for potential organ donors, offering support to families and working in the education of patients and families, clarifying doubts about the donation process.
Faced with such a complex and specialized treatment, Hospital 9 de Julho stands out for offering quality care, with high-tech equipment and complete infrastructure.
Nove de Julho has a highly specialized multidisciplinary team, consisting of physicians, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists and pharmacists, who monitor the patient indicated for transplantation at all stages of the procedure.

The transplant patient has the Surgical Center of Hospital 9 de Julho, one of the most modern in the Country. There are 22 operating rooms - two them hybrid, equipped with a modern Hemodynamic device and Magnetic Resonance, which allow the execution of exams before, during, and after surgery.
