Oncology at Hospital Nove de Julho has two Onco-hematology units, adult and pediatric, exclusive and prepared to offer the best treatment to cancer patients who have blood-related diseases or hematopoietic organs, including those that require Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT).

With 31 beds, all with HEPA (high efficiency particulate air filter) filter with positive pressure for physical removal of particles for air filtration, in addition to two apartments for respiratory isolation with positive and negative pressure.

With a qualified and specialized multidisciplinary team, including onco-hematologists, pediatric onco-hematologists and surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers, psychologists and physiotherapists, Onco-Hematology at Nove de Julho is qualified to treat patients diagnosed with lymphomas , acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, and multiple myeloma, among others.

Actions of humanization

In general, patients undergoing the bone marrow transplant procedure may be hospitalized for long periods, which can increase the stress common in hospital admissions. Therefore, Nove de Julho seeks to provide a welcoming environment, promoting humanization actions for the well-being of the patient and companion, transmitting a safe and efficient experience with empathy. Check out the actions of humanization:

Wish day - Consists of bringing patients a surprise gastronomic experience during their hospital stay. With the help of family members and caregivers, the nutrition team discovers the patient's favorite dish and the Chef prepares it in the same way as it would be prepared at home, respecting any dietary restrictions. The patient is personally served.

Gametherapy - With the aim of combining entertainment with a playful way of practicing physiotherapy exercises, the hospital offers a panel with videogames in Pediatric Onco-hematology. "Game-therapy" is used during physical therapy sessions to stimulate the patient's movements, motor coordination and agility, in addition to ensuring a moment of relaxation and interaction between patients and care teams.

Apaga a Dor [Erase the Pain] - That is a music project at the hospital, which aims to contribute to the humanization and recovery of hospitalized patients, considering that it calms, encourages and composes a trail of feelings and emotions, being part of the daily lives of many people . A team of hospital professionals brings music to patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and Onco-hematology.

Celebrations on special dates - Being in health care cannot be synonymous with paralysis of life itself. Therefore, events are held to celebrate dates such as weddings, birthdays, Easter, children's day, etc., so that patients and their families feel welcomed. In addition, individualized actions of personal desires are carried out for a totally exclusive service.

Bolão e Festa da "Pega da Medula" [Pool and the Marrow Catch Party] - The patient sees in Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) the possibility of cure and of having his life back. To emphasize the importance of the procedure and the "medullary attachment" when the transplant is successful, the H9J makes the "Bolão da Pega" [attachment pool] where the care team, the patient and family members bet on the day the attachment will take place. When this really happens, a Party in Celebration of the Patient's Rebirth is thrown, who, from that moment on, will have a second birthday to celebrate.
