​​Nuclear Medicine is the area of medicine that uses unsealed radioactive materials in diagnosis, treatment and medical research, through tests known as scintigraphy and PET-CT.   

Advantages 
One of the main advantages of Nuclear Medicine exams is to detect and locate cellular or functional alterations even before structural alterations or symptoms occur, thus allowing for early diagnoses.   

What is it used for? 
There are countless applications of conventional Nuclear Medicine exams, the most frequent being in the areas of cardiology, oncology, nephrology, urology, pediatrics, neurology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics.  

Are the procedures safe? 
Scintigraphy and PET-CT treatments and exams are very safe. The risk of serious adverse reaction after radiopharmaceutical administration is almost nil.
